Day...... (eh, screw it) lets do something different! Race music!

I am halfway done with the "cleanse" which is turning out to be a paleo diet with even fewer restrictiosn. Ok, that is all I writing about it for today! *shutting up*

So at all of the bigger races that I have done, there is always pretty cool music at the start line that gets you REVVED UP!!! and ready to KILL!!!! The finish line music usual makes you feel even more accomplished.

So let's talk race music!!!

For a starting race song, this song, Mozart's  Requiem Mass in D minor, would be downright creepy and would make you feel like you are diving into your death. (cool song though...)

I started Timberman to freaking Coldplay's The Scientist. I like Coldplay every now and then, but NOT as I am heading off to battle! A couple dudes embraced......

ACDC's You Shook Me All Night Long would probably take the cake for my #1 get your blood-pumping-lets-rip-some-arms-off start music.

So now finish line music? Ok, let's be totally predictable and pick We are the Champions by Queen. But I'd rather go with another Classic Rock band and have Journey's Don't Stop Believing instead. Its always my favorite song to close out a night. Why not close out a race with it?

If you could pick your start line music, and your finish line music, what songs would they be?

  1. Great question!
Starting Line: Either "Thunderstruck" by ACDC or "Enter Sandman" by Metallica - Those heavy guitar riffs really pump me up!
Finish Line: 100% Bon Jovi "Living on a Prayer" Beacuse well... I'm a 100% Jersey born and bred!! If I'm not crying already at LP, I will be if they play that song when I cross the line :)

  2. Pre Race Transition Groove: "The Distance", Cake

Starting line mass start: "For those about to rock", AC/DC

Running into the finish line: "Land of a Thousand Dances", J Giles Band. (I may be the only one to choose this, but I'm hoping I'm not the only one who knows it without going to You Tube)

  3. "I want to be a rock star" at the start but if we want to slip in a little classical-eze of Emerson, Lake and Palmer's version of "Fanfare for a Common Man."

Need to think some more about the finish soundtrack.

  4. Starting line: "One" by Metallica. I love how it starts out menacing and then just hammers.

Finish: Rick Derringer's "Real American" - not because I like the song or Rick Derringer but because this was Kenny Power's entrance song in his first game in Mexico and it would make me laugh my ass off!

And after a tough race a good laugh can go a long way!

  5. Addendum to my start song: "Renegade" by Styx .... Steelers fans will respect this with the big game coming up on Saturday!

  6. OK I am not good, I listen to music all the time but do not have a particular song that comes to mind...
OK to start "The Distance" by Cake or "Ironman" (corny, I know, but it gets me pumped up.)

To finish? I need to think about that one...

  7. Can I just copy and paste Mandy's comment? I don't pay attention as I am completely lost in my race plan and not hearing anything.

  8. I had great start music at Steelhead last year. The song as we entered the swim coral was Start Me Up by the Stones ("If you start me up I'll never stop"). And then we actually started to O.A.R's Love and Memories. Maybe not the greatest song, but I love O.A.R. so it was good for me.

Another good one I heard before a race was Remember the Name by Fort Minor.

    Also on my list:
    Lose Yourself - Eminem
Born to Run - The Boss
and plenty others I just can't think of now.

I'm definitely coming back to this post to put together a kick ass playlist.

  10. How about absolutely nothing.

I dont train or race with music, I'm content with the voices in my head.

But if I had to chose, I'm content with any of the tracks from my training playlist
