I stepped outside for my 3 mile-ish recovery run this morning to find the usual swampy weather we have been having. I walked about 1/3 of a mile to my run start location and as I was walking I started to feel slight rain drops.
As soon as I started the run, Mother Nature must have had her feet up on her desk enjoying a cup of coffee reading over Tour De France hilights and then suddenly went, "Oh shit! Jon is starting his run! I gotta turn up the rain dial!"
And it poured.
And it felt GOOOOOOOOOD.
After Sunday's 350 degrees for 2 hours on BROIL cookathon, I welcomed this torrential downpour. I ran one mile to the track, 5 laps around the track, then 1 mile home. While at the track I couldn't see a thing the rain was so heavy. The track was flooding and I was absolutely soaked.
But it felt sooooooooo GOOD!
Mother Nature made up for Sunday. Thank you!
I love biking and runnning in the rain. It makes me feel like a little kid again!
ReplyDeleteyour joy is my sorrow. I had the bike for this morning....no bike. All I need is to bust my ass before race day on Sunday.
ReplyDeleteIt threatened rain yesterday morning for my run and I got a couple of droplets. I was praying for it to come down since I was melting in the 'fumidity', apparently Mother Nature does not like me.
gonna be a HOT one for me on Sunday.
Awww....that must have been a fun run! I actually love running in the rain too!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome! Running in the rain, in summer is a wonderful thing.
ReplyDeleteI was on the bike this morning when the skies opened up. The rain held out for most of my brick but it was pouring on my way back to the car.
ReplyDeleteRunning in the rain, how awesome is that, especially with our muggy weather lately.
ReplyDeleteI love running in the rain - not so much on the biking!
ReplyDeleteGood you got on Good Terms with Mother Nature yesterday, b/c today in Midwest its extremely sweaty and dew points......which I imagine are heading your way!

I alwaya pray for rain on my run but it rarely happens and when it does, it's over in 5 minutes. Boo! I always pray that it doesn't rain when i'm out on the bike and it does sometimes and it's usually for the entire ride. You lucked out!
ReplyDeleteWhat is your secret? I could use any tips on communicating with Mother Nature for tomorrow. I have a 4 hour bike ride schedule with temps forecasted at 90+. Hopefully I get out early and finish while it is still in the 80's.
ReplyDeleteRunning in the rain is awesome...running while its humid enough to look like you're running in the rain...not awesome.
ReplyDeleteRunning in the rain is the best! Thanks for the tire recommendation - I did have Vittoria Corsica something something KX but I am hopping online and ordering - so thanks!
