Records are meant to be broken

Tonight was the last night of my 10 week swim workshop over in Greenwich, CT. (tear*sniff*...aka no more AWESOME pool....)

But! I rounded it out in record form.

The first night we did a 500 for time (I went a 7:30 flat) and then the goal of the 10 week workshop was to improve that 500 time the last night.

Tonight was that last night. My time?

14 seconds. Its an improvement! 1:27/100 pace vs 1:30/100 last time.

I know I could have done better. We did a whopping 250 yards of warmup (not enough) and I didn't pace it correctly. I could just tell that I wasn't going my fastest. Doh! Fortunately, I can do a freaking 500 for time ANYTIME I want! This number is going DOWN!

Later in the workout, we were doing some 100's. I decided to gun one of em and see how I would do:

New 100 PR! by 2 seconds!

Now how to go a steady 1:20/100 pace.....yeah, will have to get back to you on that one....

Finally, this one is for you BDD:

My dad sent me this one as well

  1. I am freaking stealing that picture, thank your dad for me!!!!!!!!

  2. Congrats Jon! All the hard work is paying off big time!

  3. Woo hoo! Awesome job! That's an amazing PR! :)

  4. Amazing job! Keep that pace up for 2.4 miles and you'll come in around 1:01:30 according to my calculations. :)

  5. I bet you can go steady 1:20/100 pace - just not for more than 100 yards. That is where to put the work in - lol.

Nice job on the swimming improvement. You are faster and more efficient. Exactly what we are looking for in triathlon.

Remember, we are not going to win the race in the swim but we sure can lose it!

  6. Wow, that is really great! Your hard work is paying off. Keep it going!

  7. unbelievable. Simply amazing dude.

I can now say that swim workshops are worth their weight in gold. DO NOT LOSE THAT BASE!

  8. Amazing! I see great things ahead.

  9. That is a great pic! I think I will have to steal it also!

  10. Congrats dude! I've been in the pool so much more than I usually am and I can feel it starting to whip me back into shape. That's a totally stellar 500 and 100 time!

  11. Awesome job man. Now enjoy your macronutrient as a recovery for setting records.

Your swimming always inspires me. Yesterday I did 10x50 on 1:10 and each 50 was done in 47 or 48 seconds so I had plenty of time to recover and never felt overly fatigued.

Keep posting those tips as I'm getting better at swimming too.....

    Love the shark cartoon.

  12. Congrats on the new PRs!
Dude, you just know how to kill it, you always train hard and with passion!

  13. TOTALLY great work in the pool. Im not surprised:)

  14. woohoo! Way to go, that's awesome improvement!!

  15. Nice job with your swim and your new PRs!!! Woohoo!
Ha ha..that shark comic is hilarious!
