The Runnerrminator |
Check out that double chin! (I was about 20 lbs heavier...) |
Wednesday's run was the same deal. HURTING legs. I think it is time to start to seeing the deep tissue massage experts. With all of my experimentation last year with recovering from those long races, deep tissue massage was by far the most effective for recovery. I am only about 6 weeks into this. Its only going to get worse! I did do an easy spin @ around 130-140 watts for 60 mins that afternoon. This did NOT hurt and loosened my legs up a bit.
This morning's run was better. The legs are feeling looser. I get to call it a day with only one workout! haha!
It might hit 40 and sunny on Saturday. Fingers crossed I can get outside for 2 hours on the bike @ some point this weekend.
I will get used to running of tired legs. It will become 'normal'.
ReplyDeleteGo get the massage! They do wonders! You look great in the first photo! You have "Steve in Speedos" pirate pose down to a tee. :)
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA the runinator looks like a throw back to 1990, jogging suit and popped collar, just missing the headband and stach
ReplyDeleteI find the slower I go, the more my legs hurt. Luv the pics!
ReplyDeleteHAHA, man BDD stole my comment, except I was gonna throw it back to an 80's style sweat suit haha.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I second James' comment. You probably will not have rested legs much longer until after the race :(
Keep up the good work. Minus 1 degree today.
LOVE the photos. I always look atrocious. Foam roll and massage and your legs will adapt! 40??? That's like summer!
ReplyDeleteYou need to get some tights my man! All that is missing from the first pic is a magnum PI mustache!!
ReplyDeleteHoly cow! Don't turn sideways or you might disappear! The first thing I noticed was how thin/lean you looked in the first picture. And then I saw the second picture. What a difference a year makes.
ReplyDeleteTired legs are working legs! Nice work as always!
I hate race photos! I am already dreading the ones from Sunday's race. I hope at least ONE is decent.
ReplyDeleteLook at the change in pics. Wow.
ReplyDeleteI also only had one workout today (really two but one was strength/core so I don't count that) and it feels great.
Off until Saturday where like you I hope to get out on the bike. Supposed to be mid-60s to 70 on the weekend here.
I say run what you brung. Looking fit !!
ReplyDeleteI think everyone hates their race photos...after all, you're not posing, you are usually sweaty, dirty, and gasping for air, with mouth open and limbs flailing everywhere. It's a wonder any of them turn out well! My husband actually tells me I should practice improving my finish line expressions, so that his photos don't turn out so badly... !
ReplyDeleteUR already 6 weeks in!!! love It
ReplyDeleteget that massage....
and some tights:)
Crossing Fingers for 40 DEGREES!!! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! I always buy at least one just for the memory even if it doesn't look to good. take care of those knees, your body is adjusting and will get used to this.
ReplyDeleteNo matter what I try and do, my race pictures also suck! Yours are not that bad as you might think! Huge difference in two years!
ReplyDeleteHa great photos!! We should have done that thing we talked about at IMLP with the race photos!!
